At altar, the Divine has been direct. As in “Listen up and focus on what is right in front of you.” Short and to the point, She is present. So I’ve been listing ways to focus my energies--well, to bring them back into focus, and not get ahead of myself. The Earth keeps spinning, the sun and moon still rise, the clock ticks forward, and my offspring listen to me--that’s amazing and I love them. Our latest conversations have brought out some simple mothering wisdom. I thought "maybe I'll share this." It seems like a focused thing to do:
Be kind, but remember, you don’t have to exhaust yourself to make others happy. Helping is a good thing, but it’s not worth it if it leaves you empty.
Learn to say “No” without guilt. You don’t have to explain yourself, and setting boundaries isn’t selfish—it’s a way to focus on what really matters.
Chasing perfection is a trap. Stop waiting for the “right moment” or the “perfect” situation.
Stop comparing yourself to everyone else—it’s a fast way to drain your joy.
You’re allowed to put yourself first. Taking care of your own needs means you’ll have the energy and strength to be there for others when it really counts.ourney is yours alone, and it doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
Let people be who they are, even when it’s hard. Trying to control others only brings frustration. The only person you can truly change is yourself.
The things you think are “barely enough” might be extraordinary to someone else. Don’t underestimate what you’re already doing—you’re probably doing better than you give yourself credit for.
Blessed be.
